It’s why we take our time brewing our lagers and it’s why we’re smack dab in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Well, there’s your history, and here’s a bit of our philosophy: we think being slow by nature is of mighty importance. Since then, we’ve continued to brew award-winning beers that we’re proud of, as well as share our beers with more friends than ever before! In 2016, Devils Backbone Brewing Company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch. They named it Devils Backbone the same name brave surveyors, including Thomas Jefferson’s dad, Peter, called this hard-to-summit mountain region almost 300 years ago. It became a place where folks could drink and tell stories about their time on the trail, ski slope, or both. So, to satisfy their thirst for a local haunt that served craft European-style beers, they started a whole brewery complete with a full-on brewpub for locals and visitors. The story of Devils Backbone Brewing Company goes like this: years ago, our founders, Steve and Heidi Crandall, were on a ski trip in the Alps when they tried their first craft beer, a German Weisse at a brewpub & it was like no beer they had ever tasted. Requires the ability to speak loudly to large groups of people.Requires frequent operation of tap handles, dishwashers, and movement throughout brewery.Conducts work in a standing position however, job requires walking, bending, stooping and lifting.Communication is usually cooperative in nature, with infrequent conflicts resolved by higher authority.

Regular contacts are made with the general public.Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Contacts Cicerone Certified Beer Server certification, ServSafe certification, and TIPS certification preferred, but not required to apply training opportunities will be provided after hire.One-year prior customer service experience (preferably in food/beverage, or brewery/tap room setting) preferred.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Basic to Intermediate level proficiency in office-related software.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and guests.The ability to deal with challenging situations when necessary.Excellent personal communication skills.Thorough knowledge of company products (beer, RTD’s, food, and merchandise).Ensures adequate kegs, moves kegs, and taps kegs.Thorough cleaning of the bar and work space.Contributes to a fun working environment.Ensure that all the customer service functions (bartending, merchandise sales, food sales, etc.) are coordinated throughout each day.Maintain high levels of customer service.Once trained, this position works somewhat autonomously, and is expected to identify needs as they arise throughout the shift.ĭaily Duties, Functions, Responsibilities The Bartender has great energy and the ability to develop a thorough knowledge of the brewing process, the equipment that DBBC possesses to make beer and Ready To Drink cocktails (RTD), and the beverage industry as a whole. This position works a variety of hours/shifts, and focuses on ensuring a memorable experience for all guests through serving great beer and food, and selling merchandise. The Bartender is an energetic, customer-centered position that works directly with guests at our Roseland, VA location, Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows.
